MURPHY MUNDAY (b.1984) is a determined and talented artist who has had a remarkable journey through the vast world of creativity. Her ongoing multi-medium body of work is a celebration of intuitive creation, connecting memories and experiences through vibrant and intrepid expressions. Her abstract paintings often include many layers of bold colors, intuitive gestures, and various symbols and marks created with hard pastels, oil and acrylic paints, colored pencils, graphite, and collaged materials.

From a young age, Munday expressed herself creatively, honing her skills in Minneapolis, MN and Knoxville, TN. Graduating high in her class from The Savannah College of Art & Design in 2007, specializing in photography and printmaking, she boldly pursued her dreams in NYC. Through freelancing producing, studio management, assisting renowned photographers, she gained a broad understanding of the creative industry. In addition to her successful job, drawn to work with her hands and express her personal creativity, Munday started making artistic arrows that are now displayed as large installations in various hotels, public spaces, and private collections worldwide.

With the arrival of her daughter in 2017, Munday made the courageous decision to step away from her established career path and prioritize her family. Leaving the city, she settled in upstate NY near Kingston, surrounded by beautiful nature reminiscent of her East Tennessee roots. This change sparked her personal artistic journey. The peaceful pace, scenic landscapes, fresh air, and new friendships continue to inspire her art.

Murphy Munday's artistic evolution is a testament to her unwavering commitment and passion for art and curiosity of the human perception of life - and all of its complexities. Through her own personal experiences, she has not only grown as an artist but also as an individual, weaving her individual story into her creations. As she continues to embark on new creative themes and mediums, there is undoubtedly so much ahead to emerge as art straight from her soul.

Her current series-in-process includes paper casting sculptural pieces, inviting viewers to explore the versatility of paper as a material, a medium, and a concept that pushes boundaries and celebrates the transformative power of paper.
